When you want to savour exotic delicacies, see stunning metropolitan views, or delve into the history of South Africa, you visit Cape Town.
When you want to say “hi” to a lion which is a stone’s throw away from you, you drive to the Kruger National Park.
But when you’ve seen it all, and want to let go and blissfully do nothing as you are surrounded by heavenly natural beauty, you forget the world at Knysna…
Here’s a picture taken in this enchanting town.
Isn’t that enchanting?
Let’s see what is so beautiful about Knysna…
* The Knysna Lagoon Cruise
As you sit in your boat and stare into the serene peaceful waters, you feel strangely calm and joyful…You spot two stunning sandstone cliffs in the background standing resolute and still and admire them. Then, as you move further on, you see an oyester farm on the coast. And as you stare – you realize that this farm produces some of the best oyesters in the world. As the city of Knysna cruises past you – slowly, you see an orange ball in the distance..the sun, sinking gently into the stillness of the waters…
This is it.
* The Beaches
Swim, canoe, sail, build sand castles at the Bollard Bay beach. Without the bustle of popular city beaches. Or clamber upon rocks, cool off in little pools and walk along the heavenly coastline at Brenton beach. It is difficult to find a beach where you can go beyond the frenzy of a popular attraction and actually experience the beauty of nature.
You can do that here.
* Knysna Elephant Park
The Knysna elephants are special: they are the southernmost elephants in the world and are part of a touching mission to conserve the elephant population of the Knysna forest.
You can walk through the Knysna forest along with the elephants. Or you can ride them. Or touch them. Or feed them. Photograph them. Connect with them.
Elephants can be warm…
